Canopy & Campfires CIC is now Live!
Our Next Step - Canopy & Campfires is starting to grow…
We’ve established Canopy & Campfires CIC — a community interest company designed to widen access to our woodland mentoring and wellbeing programmes for young people across Rochdale and beyond.
This new strand grows directly from our existing practice: the same fires, the same woodland setting, the same emphasis on confidence, resilience and self-esteem — expanding our reach through a new community-interest framework that builds on, and enhances, what we already do.
The CIC doesn’t replace our current work — it grows beside it.
Our established strand will continue to offer commissioned and fee-based placements, while the CIC will help widen access through subsidised and fully-funded places, making sure our work remains open to those who need it most.
Our Vision
We believe every young person should have the chance to experience belonging, reflection and growth in nature, regardless of background or circumstance.
Through the CIC we’ll work to remove barriers to access, offering subsidised or fully-funded placements for schools, families and local authorities.
Our vision is to make nature-based wellbeing accessible, sustainable and embedded within the community — helping young people to thrive, not just cope.
Our Intention
The creation of the CIC allows us to:
Partner more closely with schools, Virtual Schools and community organisations.
Apply for grant funding and community investment.
Bring on board more practitioners with a wider range of specialist skills.
Extend our reach while staying true to our values.
Together, Canopy & Campfires and Canopy & Campfires CIC form a unified approach: the same vision, shared through two complementary strands.
We’re now near completion of our CIC pilot scheme and our first winning bid, with huge thanks to Action Together Rochdale Communities Fund. The Roots & Resilience Woodland Wellbeing Programme has provided part-subsidised programmes and free places for a number of young people across Rochdale Borough, and has been a great start for Canopy & Campfires CIC.
Our next endeavour is beginning soon, with funding from The National Lottery Community Fund. This will provide free programmes for disadvantaged young people aged 11-18, outside of school hours and free workshops during school holidays. We’re very eager to get this project underway, and we’ll start taking referrals in April 2026.
